Women are planning on saving their pennies this year, but they still plan to don their ladies fitness wear and head down to the gym, a new study suggests.
Recent research by The Co-operative Bank Savings found that three quarters of women plan to avoid making impulse purchases this year. However, ten per cent will still splash out on a gym membership.
The study also found that 60 per cent of women are planning to spend less money on clothes, such as ladies sportswear, and that 41 per cent will also resist purchasing as many fashion accessories.
John Hughes, director of retail products for The Co-operative Bank, said: "The research clearly demonstrates that women are now much savvier with the way they spend and save their money."
"They are sticking to a budget and paying greater attention to their bank balances," he added.
Those heading down to the local gym with the view of not only getting fit, but of bagging a man should leave their leg warmers at home, as research by MyCelebrityFashion.co.uk released earlier this month revealed that 30 per cent of men dislike them.
