Nearly three-quarters of employees in the UK have vowed to don their gym clothing and get fit this year, a study has found.
Conducted by Aviva, the research found that 73 per cent of workers made new year's resolutions to improve their fitness, but 80 per cent admitted that similar attempts in previous years had failed by the end of January.
The 2011 New Year, New You report from Aviva UK Health reveals that losing weight was a resolution made by 72 per cent of those surveyed.
Some 61 per cent said they would try to eat more healthily and 68 per cent said they would exercise more.
Dr Doug Wright, head of clinical services at Aviva UK Health, said: "Evidence shows that a healthy, happy workforce offers many positive benefits."
Earlier this month, a YouGov survey conducted on behalf of World Cancer Research Fund found that many women are put off donning their ladies fitness clothing and exercising by the high cost of gym memberships.
