Almost eight out of ten women would undergo cosmetic surgery to lose weight rather than diet or don their ladies fitness clothing and exercise, according to a recent survey.
The poll carried out by website goodsurgeonguide.co.uk found that 78 per cent of women said they would choose surgery, as it would have an immediate effect and give great results.
Shami Thomas, spokesperson for cosmetic surgery group Transform, said: "There's a big misconception out there that cosmetic surgery can make you thin.
"It can sculpt and shape your body better but you really need to include diet, exercise and a good lifestyle in your plan."
Of the 1,305 Brits surveyed, 34 per cent of women said liposuction would be their preferred way of losing weight and 26 per cent of women selected gastric bypass as their number one choice.
According to the NHS, the most sensible way to lose weight is to make small changes that can be adhered to.
It recommends people build regular physical activity into their daily routines, which could include donning ladies fitness clothing and going for a ten-minute brisk walk, followed by 20 minutes of swimming later in the day.
