Adult exercise"reduces breast cancer"

Women who don their women's fitness wear and exercise during later adulthood have a reduced risk of postmenopausal breast cancer, according to a new study.

Research published in the open access journal BMC Cancer investigated the link between breast cancer and exercise and found that women who did more than seven hours of moderate to vigorous exercise during the past ten years had a 16 per cent reduced risk of postmenopausal breast cancer compared with inactivity.

Further good news came for cancer patients in the UK this week as Gordon Brown announced at the Labour Party Conference that all cancer patients will have diagnostic tests and receive their results within one week of visiting their GP.

Jane Hatfield, director of policy and research at Breast Cancer Care, said: "This announcement is excellent news as we know that the early detection of breast cancer can play a key role in improving treatment outcomes."

She added that these commitments should be put into practice without delay so that sufferers can receive the highest standards of care.ADNFCR-2569-ID-19388652-ADNFCR
