Arthritis pain sufferers 'should don ladies yoga wear'

Women with arthritis may want to try donning their ladies yoga clothing, as the Indian form of meditation relieves pain associated with the condition, according to a TV news reporter.

Rachel Gartner suffers from osteoarthritis and told wsiltv.com that more demanding cardiovascular activities, such as riding a bike, caused pain in her knees.

When searching for an alternative that was lower in resistance, Ms Gartner came across yoga and now regularly practices it not only to exercise but to relieve stress too.

Jennifer Hammonds, who has rheumatoid arthritis, has been practicing yoga regularly for three years now.

"It is low impact so it is really easy. I can still get the workout and benefits from the stretching and building the muscle tissue without any damage or without any pain," she explained to the news provider.

Back in October last year, a study published in the journal Arthritis Care and Research recommended that gentle exercise, such as Tai Chi, can help soothe the pain of arthritis.
