Bollywood's leading female stars are encouraging women around the world to get kitted out in ladies' sportswear and get into shape, it has been reported.
While, in the past, the biggest names of the massively-popular Indian movie industry were curvaceous, now growing numbers are opting to pursue a more-Western look, with many now sticking to strict diets and exercise regimes to stay in shape.
According to a new report from the AFP, this shift in attitude has come about gradually over the past decade, though the recent movement away from more conservative dress and towards more-Western clothes, such as having the leading ladies wearing bikinis, has accelerated the growing interest in keeping slim.
At the same time, the news agency also noted that many of the biggest stars, including Bipashu Basu and Shilpa Shetty, have launched fitness DVDs, with these encouraging fans all over the world to follow their lead and invest in ladies fitness clothing and a gym membership.
Just this week, research carried out by the Mars Refuel Drink Fund found that less than half of all Britons don't take part in any sport, despite a growing awareness of the dangers surrounding obesity and a lack of exercise.
