It is well documented that exercising regularly, in women's running wear, for example, helps to reduce the risk of heart disease, but recent research has shown that drinking two glasses of champagne a day could also improve heart health.
Scientists at the University of Reading found that champagne and wine can improve the way in which blood vessels function.
These drinks contain polyphenol antioxidants, which slow down the natural removal of nitric oxide from the blood and can help to lower blood pressure.
Dr Geoff Clayton, spokesperson for Takeheart, said that the dangers of encouraging alcohol drinking could outweigh the benefits recently suggested.
"A little bit does you good, but a lot of alcohol is bad for you. It is far better to do the important things to prevent heart disease rather than [messing] around with champagne."
The British Heart Foundation said that physical activity, which could include jogging in ladies fitness wear, is important as it exercises the heart muscle, helping it to pump blood efficiently around the body.
