Chocolate 'protects skin'

Women that enjoy exercising in their ladies running wear but also enjoy eating chocolate will be interested to hear that a study has found that chocolate with exceptionally high flavanol levels helps to protect the skin from the effect of UV waves.

Chocolate with flavonol levels equal to that used in the study, by European Dermatology London, is not available on the consumer market, however, there may be other benefits to indulging in dark chocolate.

According to Barry Chung, commercial manager at the Chocolate Society, eating a few squares of good quality dark chocolate every day could lead to health benefits including the reduction of LDL cholesterol levels and the production of nitric oxide which can help lower blood pressure.

Perhaps more importantly chocolate can also help us feel happy because it contains serotonin.
