Women who have sustained knee injuries from running can keep fit while they recover by donning their ladies fitness wear and doing sessions on an exercise bike, a sports injury expert has claimed.
Physiotherapist Will Pressley told the Daily Telegraph that if people experience knee pain after running, it is usually caused by rotational forces on the joint.
He went on to say that physiotherapy can help to build muscles and heal these injuries.
Mr Pressley said that some people suffer pain for a few months after running a marathon, but added that it is unlikely that any damage will be permanent.
"Supports don't usually help, but try swimming or cycling to keep you fit while the knee settles," he advised those with joint injuries.
This weekend will see the 2010 British Heart Foundation Exmoor Bike Marathon take place.
The 100km off-road cycling challenge will start at Porlock Recreation Ground, Parson Street, Minehead on Saturday (September 11th).
