Women may want to start taking ladies' sportswear into the office, if one expert is to be followed.
Ronald Abvajee, the founder of My Personal Trainer, told the Times of South Africa that while many people think that the office or a busy home life can often stifle efforts to do exercise, they can actually be embraced for a healthy lifestyle.
"Many of our habitual movements are so automated, we do not notice them," he explained. "To optimise their effect we need to increase the frequency of exercise, perform it rhythmically and breathe correctly to make these natural movements your friends."
Mr Abvajee said that it can be seen as quite ironic that doing exercise in an already tiring environment can be invigorating, but if women go that extra mile and embrace their working space, they can come out feeling much fresher than when they went in.
Gideon Samuels, a personal trainer who was also consulted, said one way women might want to work is by replacing their chair with a fitness ball, in turn allowing them to do more exercise at their station.
About.com recommends that women consider doing exercises at their desk such as chair squats, bicep curls with bottled drinks and abdominal twists.
