A group of disabled people who enjoy donning their gym clothing are fighting to save their local fitness centre from closure.
Swindon Council has announced plans to close the County Ground Lifestyle Centre on County Road in an attempt to save money, the Swindon Advertiser reports.
It intends to move all of the classes and programmes held at the centre to alternative venues.
Multiple sclerosis sufferer Denise Webb, from Park South, said that people with disabilities feel like they belong at the County Ground gym more than any other.
"I have got to keep my right arm and hand working or I will lose the use of it and the only way to do that is to exercise," she explained to the newspaper.
Ms Webb has organised the petition to save the centre, claiming that there is nothing else like it in Swindon.
Back in July, Fitness First announced that a number of its centres now feature facilities that are accessible to the disabled and that some of its staff members have been trained in catering for the needs of these people.
