Enfield residents set for improved leisure centres

Enfield residents set for improved leisure centres

20 October 2010 16:06

Women in Enfield who are looking to don their ladies fitness clothing and get into shape might want to take note of a new improvement scheme which will enhance a number of local leisure centres.

The Enfield Independent has reported that Southbury Leisure Centre will be the first to benefit from upgrade work, with a sum of £8.9 million being pledged towards the overall initiative by the local council.

Edmonton and Albany are among the other centres where improvements are expected to be made in the future.

Excellence is something that Enfield Council is aiming to strive for with its leisure centres, according to the organisation's youth, leisure, cultural services and Olympics cabinet member Bambos Charalambous.

The news provider reports the councillor as saying: "We want to encourage everybody to use our centres and we want them to be excellent in every way."

Earlier this week, Cambs Times 24 reported that proposals are being made in Chatteris to potentially create a new community gym in the area.
