Women can reduce their risk of developing potentially fatal diseases by adopting a healthier diet and exercising more in their ladies fitness clothing, the National Obesity Forum (NOF) has suggested.
Research published in the Archivesof Internal Medicine recently revealed that men and women with a large waist circumference could be at increased risk of dying prematurely regardless of their body mass index (BMI).
This suggests that those who carry weight around their middles should make more effort to lose a few pounds.
"If [people] find that their weight is starting to increase, they should seriously look at what they're eating, how much they're eating, what kind of exercise they're doing and how much they're doing," said Tam Fry, NOF board member.
He went on to say that activities such as cycling and brisk walks are excellent ways of getting the heart racing and burning calories.
Mr Fry suggested that people should also take a close look at their diets and perhaps cut down on sugary foods.
