Women suffering from restless legs syndrome (RLS) can reduce the symptoms of the condition by donning their ladies fitness clothing and exercising regularly, a study has suggested.
Research conducted by the University of Washington in Seattle also found that symptoms of fibromyalgia can be reduced through physical activity.
Fibromyalgia is a medical disorder characterised by chronic pain in the muscles and connective tissues.
The researchers also discovered that adults with fibromyalgia are more likely to develop restless legs syndrome than healthy patients.
Fibromyalgia patients often suffer from sleep disruption, but the researchers suggest that this could be due to the presence of RLS.
Contributing author Dr Nathaniel Watson, associate professor of neurology at the University of Washington in Seattle, said: "Since restless legs syndrome is a treatable condition, diagnosing and treating RLS in fibromyalgia patients has the potential to improve their sleep."
Last month, researchers at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine in the US suggested that women suffering from insomnia should try taking part in regular aerobic exercise.
