Women who want to improve their quality of sleep should put on their ladies fitness wear and take part in more exercise, an expert has suggested.
Sleep and energy therapist Dr Nerina Ramlakhan, speaking to the Independent, said that exercise can help the body to unwind.
"It aids the production of the complex concoction of hormones - like adenosine and melatonins - which help us bed down and fall asleep at the end of a difficult day," she explained.
Dr Ramlakhan recommended, however, that people should not over-rest, as this can make them lethargic, and they should also avoid over-exercising as this can cause muscle strain and burnout.
Last month, Connie Beaudoin, who owns Parasutra Yoga Shala, an exercise studio in Palm Beach, Florida, told the Palm Beach Daily News that the relaxing exercises and breathing techniques used in yoga can help people to sleep better.
She said it also helped her to overcome the grief which came when her puppy died.
