Chocolate, eaten in small quantities, may reduce the risk of heart disease, but women should still exercise regularly in their ladies fitness wear and eat a nutritious diet to ensure they lead a healthy lifestyle, the British Heart Foundation has suggested.
Victoria Taylor, senior heart health dietician for the foundation, made these suggestions following the publication of a study by researchers in Germany, which found that just one small square of dark chocolate a day can lower blood pressure and reduce risk of heart disease.
She said that chocolate lovers should not get carried away over Easter after hearing this news.
"Chocolate has high amounts of calories and saturated fat which are linked to weight gain and raised cholesterol levels - two of the key risk factors for heart disease," Ms Taylor added.
The British Heart Foundation emphasised that people do not have to don gym wear if sessions on a treadmill do not interest them.
It recommended people to try swimming or playing a sport or just attempt more walking everyday.
