Women who want to achieve a state of wellbeing should ditch the diet pills and start eating healthily and exercise more in their ladies fitness wear, the British Nutrition Foundation has suggested.
Dr Laura Wyness, senior nutrition scientist at the foundation, said that some diet pills work in the short-term, but people should not rely on them as a healthy way to maintain weight loss.
"A gym membership is much more beneficial to your body as it is getting exercise, which is crucial to a healthy lifestyle," Dr Wyness explained.
She went on to say that it is simple even for the busiest of people to fit exercise into their daily routines, suggesting making simple changes such as taking the stairs instead of the lift and getting off the bus a stop early.
Her comments follow the publication of research by the University of Liverpool, which indicates that slimming pills don't work because they fail to recognise the psychological causes of over-eating.
