Those who head out regularly in their ladies running wear may have noticed an increasing number of people jogging without shoes.
One of the growing number of barefoot enthusiasts is former professional lightweight boxerJackson Williams, who is planning to run 2,500 miles from Perth to Sydney, Australia, without shoes, the Telegraph reports.
He told the newspaper that his aim is to challenge himself and "push the boundaries and limits of human endurance".
Last year, shoe maker Galahad Clark ran the New York Marathon in his own design of barefoot skin, the Vivo barefoot.
Speaking to the Telegraph, he said: "The shoe got in the way of evolution. It's like a little coffin that stops the foot from working the way it's supposed to."
Bupa disagrees, saying that trainers or running shoes are an "essential" part of ladies running wear. It said that, as running is a high-impact exercise, the feet need cushioning with shock absorbing materials to prevent injury.
