Women do not necessarily have to don their Lycra ladies fitness wear to get their recommended amount of exercise each week.
This is according to a spokeswoman from Slimming World, who said that people can easily fit exercise into their daily routine, often without really realising they are doing so.
She explained that women should aim to do a minimum of 30 minutes of moderate activity five times a week, in order to stay fit and perhaps shed a few excess pounds.
"A brisk walk is something that most people can fit into their routine," the spokesperson said.
She went on to explain that, if walking does not appeal, then there are many other things that have the same sort of impact, such as spending an hour washing and waxing the car, gardening for an hour or raking leaves for 30 minutes.
Her comments follow the launch of a campaign by Birds Eye, which aims to get families up off their sofas and taking part in more physical activity.
The campaign has enlisted the support of a number of celebrities, including Myleene Klass, who is promoting hula-hooping as a great way to keep fit.
