Exercise in gym clothing is a good way to deal with stress, a laser therapist who helps people to lose weight has suggested.

Anne Penman, speaking to the Daily Record, claimed that physical activity also increases a person's general levels of happiness.

"Exercise helps release endorphins into the body which have the effect of making you feel good about yourself. It also releases built up tension in the body," she explained.

Ms Penman went on to advise women to choose activities that they really enjoy, such as dancing, walking or swimming.

She said that keeping fit should never become a chore, as this will just increase a person's stress levels again.

Ms Penman managed to quit smoking in 1991 through laser therapy and now uses it to help other people give up their addictions, lose weight and decrease their stress levels.

The therapy involves a cold, soft laser beam that targets specific energy points on the hands, ears, nose, wrists, arms, legs and feet.
