Putting on ladies fitness wear and exercising regularly is key to a woman's mental health, according to a clinical therapist in Philadelphia.
Margaret Preston, of Flourtown, told the Philadelphia Inquirer that some women are too scared to go out jogging on their own so she is trying to promote running in pairs or groups.
The therapist has designed a piece of women's fitness wear - a t-shirt with a pink heart beside two runners on the left sleeve - which she hopes will become a universal symbol of friendliness.
Ms Preston told the newspaper that she wants women to recognise the symbol so that they can go out running on their own but when they see someone else wearing the t-shirt they know the other person is happy to pair-up and run together safely.
"The heart invites people in, and we hope it keeps them safe," Ms Preston told the newspaper.
According to Bupa, running is one of the best and easiest ways to keep fit. It said jogging in women's running wear and other forms of cardiovascular exercise are a great way to increase your fitness, because they raise your heart rate, giving your heart muscle an effective workout and improving your circulation.
