A lack of exercise in women's fitness wear and poor diet is making women feel old before their time, according to a health insurer.
New research from PruHealth has found that today's 20-somethings feel three years older than their birth certificate states.
The research highlights how people in their 20s and 30s live unhealthier lifestyles than those in their 40s and 50s, which could be the reason they feel older than their years.
The top three reasons for lower energy levels were identified as unhealthy diet, not getting enough sleep and the fact that this age group is failing to don their ladies fitness wear and get enough exercise.
Shaun Matisonn, chief executive officer at PruHealth, said: "Finding time in your 30s to exercise and eat healthily can be especially difficult while you're juggling a career and looking after a young family, but incorporating small steps in your daily routine, such as getting off the bus a stop early and snacking on fruit rather than crisps, can help make all the difference."
The NHS is keen to promote being active, pointing out that exercise is an essential part of a healthy lifestyle as it helps to maintain overall fitness, manage weight loss and can lower the risk of many life-threatening conditions.
