Women can reduce their risk of developing breast cancer by investing in some ladies fitness clothing and exercising regularly.
This suggestion came from Dr Marilyn Glenville, a nutritionist specialising in women's health, who saidthat eating a healthy diet is also important in preventing cancer.
"We do know that diet can help prevention in terms of things like cruciferous vegetables and making sure you have enough vitamin D," she said.
Dr Glenville, who is a registered member of the Nutrition Society, noted research has shown that high levels of insulin are linked to an increased risk of breast cancer.
She said that eating lots of sugary foods and starchy carbohydrates increase the levels of insulin and, therefore, raise the risk of breast cancer.
Her comments follow the publication of an article by Reuters Health, which noted breast cancer-related findings by the National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project, in Pittsburgh.
They found that the majority of cases of the disease occur in people with no family history of breast cancer.
