Dr Kenneth Cooper, known as the Father of Aerobics, is to promote the importance of people donning their gym clothing and exercising regularly at the Global Obesity Summit 2010.
Being held this week in the Jackson Convention Complex in Mississippi, US, the summit aims to discuss ways of fighting obesity and related diseases, such as diabetes.
Dr Cooper, who wrote the 1968 book Aerobics and founded Cooper Aerobics, will be the keynote speaker at the summit's banquet at 19:00 (local time) on Wednesday November 10th.
Also set to speak at the event is chef Luis Bruno, who will emphasise the importance of eating a healthy diet.
He is to demonstrate some of his signature healthy cooking techniques, recipes and tips in a session titled Cooking from the Heart, which is set to take place from 12:00-13:30 on Wednesday November 10th.
Last month, Mayer Hillman, senior fellow emeritus of the Policy Studies Institute at the University of Westminster in London, wrote in a piece on the British Medical Journal's website that the UK's government is trying to get more people to take up aerobics and other forms of physical activity.
