A fitness centre in Cambridgeshire is being redeveloped and is set to reopen soon, offering women in the area more chance to don their gym clothing and keep fit.

The former Bodyline for Women gym in Buttermarket, Ely, off Market Place, is currently being worked on by builders, the Ely Weekly News reports.

Plans do not need to be submitted by the new owner for the transformations, as the building already has permission to be used as a gym.

Linda McCormack, of The Warren in Witchford, has applied for permission from East Cambs District Council to change the premises' business name logo.

Building work on the new fitness centre is expected to finish within the next eight weeks.

Last month, the Yorkshire Evening Post reported that the biggest Bodyline gym in Leeds had been given the royal seal of approval by the Duke of Gloucester.

The duke was the guest of honour at a ceremony to officially open the £16 million fitness centre in Queensway.
