Women who work in IT are the least likely to don their ladies sportswear and exercise, according to a new study.
A study of 1,734 working Brits by a weight loss and personal training agency, fatfreefitness.co.uk, found that people who worked in IT exercised the least out of all the professions nationwide.
The study found that fewer than 20 per cent agreed that they met government activity guidelines of half an hour of moderate exercise, five times a week.
It also revealed that that the average person in the UK is active for just one-and-a-half hours a week.
Receptionists are the second most inactive group of professionals in the country, followed closely by sales people, according to the study.
Weight loss expert Rich Leigh, personal trainer and founder of weight loss agency Fat Free Fitness, said: "I personally believe that the government and employers could be doing more to encourage staff activity by organising staff sports and activities at lunch and outside of work."
According to the NHS, exercise is an essential part of a healthy lifestyle. It said that regular exercise helps to maintain overall fitness and manage weight loss and it can lower the risk of many life-threatening conditions.
