Women dusting off their winter ladies sportswear should improve their fitness before going on a skiing holiday this winter, according to the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA).
Carl Christopher, spokesperson for RoSPA, said it is important for women to know their fitness and skill levels.
"People are injured often because they are not fit enough, so the common injuries like the strains [and] sprains can be reduced simply by improving fitness before you head out on holiday," said Mr Christopher.
According to the NHS, strains and sprains can be avoided by warming up muscles before exercise.
It advises skipping as a great way to warm up because it uses lots of different muscle groups.
Mr Christopher said it is also important people check their insurance cover and make sure they know what rescue services are available.
"Make sure you polish your skills if you haven't been out for quite a while. Don't ski alone, ski as part of a group, and quit while you're ahead, so don't push yourself too much," Mr Christopher added.
