Women who want to lose weight or improve their fitness should don their ladies gym wear and give interval training a go, according to a fitness guru.
Steve Halsall, exercise expert for the Mirror, said that interval training is a good exercise for those who are strapped for time.
He went on to say that this sort of training can be done by anyone - from grandparents to pop stars - and that they will all see positive results from it.
"Interval training is a very very good way of increasing metabolism and losing weight, as long as you are eating the right things," he added.
Mr Halsall suggested that the first step women need to take is finding time in their diary when they can put on their gym wear and commit to exercising.
His comments follow recent research by the University of Exeter's School of Sport and Health Sciences, which found that waist circumference, aerobic fitness and microvascular function were improved equally as much from doing a number of short sessions of exercise as one long session.
