Those who want to don their ladies fitness wear and stick to their new year's resolution of exercising more can do so without breaking the bank, according to moneywise.co.uk.
Women should try and negotiate a deal with a local gym, the website advises. It recommends calling a few gyms in the area and asking what deals they can offer and also said to be brave and haggle for a discount.
"The worst they can say is no, and you could end up making a saving," it added.
Another tip the money-saving website promotes is considering an off-peak membership, for those with flexible working hours, and other deals for those without that luxury.
For those that really need to save the pennies, the website advises women to take advantage of free exercise opportunities.
The NHS also promotes ways of getting fit that are cheaper than the average gym membership. It advises taking up jogging, perhaps in ladies running wear, or going for regular walks or bike rides.
