Ladies don women's fitness wear for latest dance exercise craze

Ladies in Huddersfield have been donning their women's fitness clothing to take part in the latest dance exercise craze - Zumba.

A mix of salsa, calypso and other dance-based fitness programmes, Zumba allows women to have fun while also getting their hearts pumping.

"It's just incredible fun. I absolutely love it," Anne Little, a senior lecturer in exercise and health at Huddersfield University, told the Huddersfield Examiner.

A trained Zumba teacher, Ms Little launched her first classes earlier this year and holds sessions in Huddersfield's Slaithwaite Civic Hall and Holmfirth Sports Centre. She is now looking for a venue in the town's centre.

She explained that people of any age can benefit from the exercise and that her 85-year-old father had even given it a go.

Earlier this month, the American College of Sports Medicine announced that a set of guidelines had been developed for physicians who treat patients who are over the age of 50 but still enjoy taking part in physical activity.
