A piece of technology worn in addition to usual ladies fitness wear can help women to get the most out of their workouts, a technology expert has suggested.
Steve Litchfield, writing on allaboutsymbian.com, tested the new application from Sports Tracking Technologies (STT) which connects, via Bluetooth, to almost any Symbian smartphone with a Polar wireless heart rate monitor.
The technology uses GPS to track how far a person travels and at what pace. This information is then logged onto a disk so that the user can bring up the details of their exercise sessions on their mobile phone.
Its connection to the Polar heart rate monitor belt means that the system can inform the person exercising whether they are working at the optimum level.
"If you have any interest whatsoever in outdoor exercise and own a compatible Symbian-powered smartphone then embrace STT's system with open arms," concluded Mr Litchfield.
Earlier this month, Northwestern Medicine in Chicago announced that it had developed a new, more accurate way of calculating a woman's peak heart rate - 206 minus 88 per cent of age.
