Ofcom has ruled that Sky Sports must be made available on all TV platforms, which may be of interest to women who like watching sport when they are not out exercising in their ladies sportswear.

An analysis of the pay TV market resulted in the independent regulator deciding that Sky must offer to supply Sky Sports One and Two at a lower wholesale price to other retailers, such as cable, terrestrial and IPTV.

Ofcom claims that this change will have many benefits to consumers as premium sport, such as Premier League football matches, will become available to around ten million homes who do not have Sky.

Commenting on Ofcom's decision, Jon Ingram, product director at Digitalchoices.co.uk said: "With any luck, Ofcom's ruling will be the catalyst for significantly greater choice and innovation in the way we can access sports content."

He went on to say that it could even "spark a price war" between providers looking to pass savings on to the "armchair sports fan".
