A woman who decided to start training for the London Marathon has said that other women should learn to love donning lycra and going for a jog.
Alice-Azania Jarvis told the Independent that she used to hate being forced into women's fitness wear to go on cross-country runs, but now she loves jogging so much that it is her primary mode of transport.
She advised women that, although it may take a while to learn the basics of training, it will not be long before they begin to enjoy the activity.
A good mindset and something to make the journey more interesting – such as an mp3 player – are also essential, Ms Jarvis added.
"Once you become a bit more serious about your regime, it can be worth buying a few ... professionally designed items: pocketed leggings, waterproofs and breathable shirts all improve the running experience," she explained.
Oregon Health and Science University researchers recently found that women who want to lose weight must don their ladies' fitness wear and exercise, rather than just relying on dieting.
