Former Wimbledon champion Martina Hingis is set to put her years of professional experience in women's fitness wear at tennis championships to the test.

The five-time grand slam winner is set to appear in the latest version of the hit BBC television show Strictly Come Dancing.

Martina will replace her ladies fitness wear with a ballroom gown when she joins a host of other sports personalities and other personalities for the dance competition next month.

Boxer Joe Calzaghe, Joe Woods - the wife of the Rolling Stones' Ronnie Wood - and ex-England cricketer Phil Tufnell will all compete alongside Hingis.

Olympic long-jumper Jade Johnson is also set for an appearance on the ballroom floor for the show.

Hingis is currently serving a two-year ban from professional tennis for cocaine abuse.

Speaking ahead of the start of the competition, the tennis star said: "I want people to see a different side to me than the person running round the tennis court."
