A young weightlifter has put her gym clothing to one side in favour of more glamorous attire with the aim of becoming Miss Wales 2011.
Stephanie Owens, 20, has applied to become the next Miss Flintshire in the Miss Wales regional heats next week, the Daily Post reports.
She has been ranked 58th in the world for weightlifting in the past and once came sixth in the Commonwealth junior weightlifting competition.
Ms Owens enjoys donning her ladies fitness clothing and taking part in a number of sports and activities, including hammer throwing and ice skating,
"Lots of girls don't do exercise because they don't think it's attractive. But I want to promote a healthy lifestyle," she told the newspaper.
Ms Owens went on to say that, if she won the title, she would go into schools and persuade kids to be active and get into exercise more.
Last year, teenager Emily Cooper, from Maxey, near Peterborough, who was bullied at school about her weight, made it to the finals of national modelling competition Miss Natural Curves UK.
