Over 90 per cent of women are unaware that a lack of exercise in women's fitness wear can increase their risk of developing breast cancer, according to a recent poll.
The research, from Breakthrough Breast Cancer, found that only nine per cent of females surveyed were aware that increasing levels of physical activity can help reduce the possibility of developing breast cancer.
It also found that nearly one-third of women believe that there is nothing they can do to change their likelihood of getting the disease.
Maggie Alexander, director of policy and campaigns at Breakthrough Breast Cancer, said: "Although we don't yet know all the causes of breast cancer it's vital that women do know that regular physical activity, maintaining a healthy weight and reducing their alcohol intake can all play a part to help reduce chances of the disease developing."
Cancer Research UK advises that the more active you are, the more you can reduce your risk of cancer.
It says 30 minutes of moderate activity a day, five days a week, in your women's gym clothing can have a positive effect on your health.
