Computers have replaced traditional outdoor games in today's generation of girls and mothers need to encourage them to enjoy wearing ladies' gym clothing, it has been said.
Helen Vanderburg, a mother and writer for the Calgary Herald, suggested that making fitness fun and a family activity can help children to avoid becoming obese and boost their health.
The expert suggested that strength training is one possibility for parents hoping to get their daughters into exercising more and can provide a way to develop their passion for playing other sports.
"Getting fit and exercising when a child has been inactive for some time isn't easy. The key is to find an activity, environment and trainer/ coach that are appropriate for your child," Ms Vanderburg explained.
Expectant mothers can also help their child by donning ladies' gym clothing themselves, after a new study from the University of Auckland underlined that mothers who exercise during pregnancy were much more likely to give birth to healthier babies.
