Mothers 'walk 12 miles a week with newborns'

Mothers 'walk 12 miles a week with newborns'

04 February 2011 12:06

New mothers may feel that they should be exercising more in their gym clothing, but what they may not realise is just how much physical activity they are already taking part in.

A recent study by Pampers Baby-Dry found that British mothers walk more than 639 miles with their babies' pushchairs in the first year of their child's life.

Some 2,000 mothers were involved in the poll, which revealed that new mums take their babies out for a walk six times a week.

The average trip out is just over two miles, meaning that, over a year, mums walk around 639 miles while pushing a buggy.

Pampers Baby-Dry conducted the poll to find out the different ways in which mothers of babies aged 0-36 months get their children to sleep.

Back in December, Dannii Minogue revealed to Star magazine that she had not lost all of her post-pregnancy weight as she was too busy looking after her son Ethan to don her ladies fitness clothing and exercise.
