For those not looking forward to donning their women's fitness wear, heading out the door and facing the elements this winter the Nintendo Wii has a solution to keeping fit while staying indoors - an exercise bike due to be released in January 2010.
The full-size cycle will come as part of a new game called Cyberbike, which will have 18 circuits and be compatible with some of the Wii's other games, such as MarioKart.
Its release has been timed to coincide with the thousands of weight-loss resolutions likely to be made by women on New Year's Day.
Former British Olympic swimmer Sharron Davies recently urged women to stop "sitting on your backside watching TV" and sit on an exercise bike instead.
She told the Times that, with willpower, women can easily keep fit by putting on their women's sportswear and using gym equipment such as exercise bikes.
