Women who do not work and spend more time exercising in women's fitness wear feel 11 years younger than those that have jobs, according to recent research.
PruHealth conducted the research and found that working parents feel an average of seven years older than they actually are, whereas non-working parents feel four years younger than their real age.
The health insurer also found that less than half (43 per cent) of working parents eat a balanced diet and 18 per cent never don their gym wear and exercise.
This study also suggests that parents with children under the age of six have the lowest energy levels and the worst diets.
Shaun Matisonn, chief executive officer at PruHealth, said: "Finding time to exercise and eat healthily can be difficult while you're juggling a career and looking after a young family, but the health and energy levels of working parents clearly needs more attention."
According to Bupa, eating a balanced diet is important for maintaining good health but eating the correct foods can also help to boost and maintain high energy levels.
It recommends increasing carbohydrate intake to improve energy levels.
