One million mums don gym wear and take part in Change4Life

17 February 2010 12:58

At least one million mums have being putting on their ladies fitness wear and exercising more regularly with their families, according to government statistics.

The data shows that, thanks to the Change4Life campaign, a million families have started to lead healthier lifestyles by eating better and taking part in more fitness activities.

Secretary of state for health Andy Burnham said that the "beauty" of the campaign is that it "motivates everyone to get involved right down to local communities".

He went on to explain that the government is hoping to build on this success by launching Change4Life for adults.

"We are going even further to support people to make the simple changes that will lead to us living healthier, longer lives," he added.

In December, the government urged families to get into their gym wear or other fitness clothing and head out for a walk on Christmas day to burn off those extra calories consumed thought the day.

This was part of Walk4Life, a sister campaign of Change4Life.
