A woman who is partially paralysed has beaten the odds by donning her ladies fitness wear and winning the title of Scottish kickboxing champion.
Lisa Clarkson's spinal cord was damaged during a hysterectomy operation, leaving her with partial paralysis in one of her legs, the Press and Journal reported.
She has overcome the disability, however, to win the title and hopes she can inspire other women to their own achievements, perhaps in their ladies fitness wear too.
Speaking to the newspaper, Ms Clarkson said: "I am so proud of what I have done and I hope others will see that if I can do it, then so can they."
The 36-year-old started kickboxing after her paralysis and she told the newspaper that, at first, she could hardly walk or even lift her leg, but she gradually progressed and moved to one-on-one tuition.
Last month the Argus reported that a teenager, who is paralysed form the waist down, has been selected for Great Britain's 2012 Paralympics development team.
She will don her ladies fitness wear and train with the team and could take part in the 2012 Paralympic Games.
