Pigtails: The best hair-do for yoga

Pigtails, bunches, angel wings, whatever you call this hairstyle, it is the best choice when it comes to practicing yoga, according to a freelance reporter.

Holly Lebowitz Rossi, a reporter who specialises in religion and spirituality, wrote on beliefnet.com that her hair used to get in the way of her poses when practicing yoga, perhaps in bamboo yoga clothing.

"Left loose, my mid-shoulder-length hair would flop into my eyes, and a ponytail led to neck crinkles and headaches when we lay on our backs," she explained.

She went on to write that she then opted for low-lying "grown-up" pigtails that keep out of her way, regardless of if she is bending leaning or lying down, and has never looked back.

Back in January, writing in her New York Times Maplewood blog, Alison Greene said that proper ladies yoga clothing is also important when taking part in the Indian form or meditation.

She explained that ordinary, ill-fitting women's gym wear is not fit for purpose and can get in the way.
