Women who are trying to lose weight should regularly make changes to the exercise routines that they complete in their gym clothing, a dietician has claimed.

Patricia Chuey wrote in a piece for the Calgary Herald that making changes to eating habits also helps people to shed unwanted pounds.

"One way to help ensure this is to look at what you're eating, and when, in relation to your exercise routine," she said.

Ms Chuey went on to explain that people should not eat meals straight before they work out.

She advised eating something light to fuel the exercise session, such as a small banana, along with a glass of water.

However, if people have a gap of three hours or more before they exercise, they have time to fit in a meal.

Back in January, Maria Castellina, spokeswoman for the charity Ramblers, said that walking is a great form of exercise for those trying to lose weight and improve their overall health and fitness.
