Women who work long hours can suffer from increased blood pressure, but they can reduce this by donning their ladies fitness clothing and exercising regularly, an expert has suggested.
Cathy Ross, senior cardiac nurse at the British Heart Foundation, explained that high blood pressure is a known risk factor for cardiovascular disease.
"Being physically active helps to control your blood pressure and previous studies have shown that being physically fit can help you cope with the demands of long hours, physically demanding jobs and shift work," she said.
Ms Ross recommended people walk or cycle to work, stating that these are easy ways of working exercise into the daily routine.
Her comments follow the recent publication of research in the British Medical Journal Heart, which found that men with low physical fitness are at increased risk of dying from ischemic heart disease caused by working long hours.
The researchers behind the study concluded that men working long hours should make sure that they are physically fit.
