Women who change into their ladies fitness clothing and exercise regularly are less at risk of developing breast cancer than those who are inactive, a recent study has suggested.
Research presented at the American Association for Cancer Research revealed that women who gain excess weight after the age of 20 increase their risk of developing breast cancer.
Arlene Wilkie, director of research and policy at the charity Breast Cancer Campaign, explained that it has been proven that women who are overweight after the menopause can have an increased risk of developing breast cancer.
"We would recommend maintaining a healthy body weight throughout life by combining regular exercise with a balanced, low-fat diet avoiding fatty foods and limiting alcohol intake," she added.
Ms Wilkie went on to say that women need to check their breasts regularly for any changes or abnormalities so that if cancer is present it can be caught quickly.
