Sarah Haskins wins Chicago Triathlon

Sarah Haskins crossed the line of the Chicago Triathlon in her women's running wear in first place this weekend.

She finished in a time of one hour, 59 minutes and 48 seconds, completing the race ahead of Sarah Groff andBecky Lavelle who recorded times of two hours 23 seconds and two hours, two minutes and 23 seconds respectively.

Haskin led from early on, chased by 2004 Olympian Julie Dibens throughout the cycling stage before a crash took her opponent out of contention.

The British competitor was taken from the race in an ambulance, after her way was blocked by some amateur competitors.

Speaking to the Chicago Tribune after the race, Haskins said: "Julie would have pushed me. It would have been a different race."

In the men's event, Matt Reed trumped the field with a time of one hour, 48 minutes and 27 seconds, followed closely by Matt G Chrabot with a time of one hour, 49 minues and 24 seconds and Timothy O'Donnell with a time of one hour, 49 minutes and 58 seconds.

A total of 12 women and 24 men completed the race in the International Professional class, while a total of 4,243 International Individual competitors and 145 International Elite Amateurs finished the race.
