Scots newsreader plans to get in shape to avoid 'the fat 40'

05 March 2010 18:03

One of Scotland's best-known faces has revealed plans to get into her gym clothes and get into shape before she reaches 40.

Sarah Heaney, who worked as a full-time model before moving on to become a TV presenter north of the border, has announced plans for a Playboy-themed party for her landmark birthday, which is just around the corner.

However, with the Scot having only just had her second child, she has admitted that she will need to work flat-out to get into shape and wow her guests, with ladies fitness clothing rather than a calorie-counting diet her preferred method of shedding the pounds.

"I am not getting in a bunny outfit until I am fit," Heaney told the Daily Record newspaper.

"I have gone to the gym on and off for a few years and do a lot of running but I am fast approaching 40 and I definitely wanted to do something about my middle bit."

Just recently, research carried out for the government's Change4Life campaign revealed that obesity levels across the UK are now 20 per cent higher than they were in the 1960s.
