Students in Northumberland, Canada, have been changing into their gym wear and practicing yoga.
Schools in the country can apply for funding of up to CAD800 (£514) each through a programme called Try Day, which aims to introduce young people in high school to non-traditional forms of physical activities.
Trinity College School used the grant money to set up a yoga session led by Laura Harvey, a teacher from a local yoga centre, northumberlandtoday.com reported.
Many of the students went into the session thinking they would just be taking part in some sort of meditation but, in the end, "they gained a great deal of respect for yoga as a discipline," Jennifer Powles, head of health and physical education at Trinity, told the website.
"They were surprised by how physically challenging it was," she added.
Now that the students know the exercise is much more than just meditation, perhaps they will be investing in some ladies yoga clothing.
Earlier this week, Holly Lebowitz Rossi, a reporter who specialises in religion and spirituality, wrote on beliefnet.com that she had discovered the best hair-do for practicing yoga - pigtails.
