Wearing suitable women's yoga wear is important when embarking upon the activity, according to one fitness expert.
Abby Cuffey, associate health editor of the Women's Day blog, has offered advice from the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons on ways to stay injury-free when practising yoga.
She said it is vital to wear "appropriate clothing that allows for proper movement". If it is too baggy, your fitness attire can get tangled up, which might cause you to fall.
Ms Cuffey also said it is important to speak to your doctor before starting if you have had medical problems or injuries in the past and always start classes with a qualified instructor.
Conduct a proper warm-up before you embark on a session in your ladies yoga wear as this will reduce your risk of sustaining an injury, the blogger advised.
Recently, personal trainer Dan Taylor, writing on Pleasanton.patch.com, said yoga and other weight-bearing exercises can increase women's bone density.
